What do my students say about me?
David is a very knowledgeable osteopath who has a genuine passion for anatomy and physiology. Due to his extensive understanding of anatomy, he can break down a complicated subject in a simplistic manner. He uses a range of mnemonics and translation alongside storytelling to help students grasp subject material.
I can now differentiate between vertebrae and discuss breathing mechanics without having to revert to a textbook. I can also quote the anatomical attachments of muscles including nerve supply.Osteopathic student
Just wanted to send an email and say the lecture today on nervous tissue and pain was so much better and I actually feel I learned something today. […] David McCabe was fantastic and really got the class interacting and got us all participating. […] Big pat on the back to you for sorting it out this week. The whole class felt a benefit this time and really enjoyed David.

Who am I?
I am David McCabe, principal osteopath at Back2Life Clinics and freelance anatomy lecturer in Scotland.
Since starting my osteopathic training in 2000, I have been fascinated with human anatomy. For osteopaths, it is the subject that we pride ourselves on - our ‘Mastermind’ specialist subject you could say! In the dissection lab during our osteopathic training, medical students would often approach us for “we’re just checking…” help as they knew that anatomy was our thing.
I decided to take my passion further with a MSc in Human Anatomy at Edinburgh University. Not only was this an incredible advanced/refresher course in terms of the subject matter, but it allowed an even deeper understanding through full-body dissection of five cadavers. Furthermore, there was the added bonus that I was able to marry anatomy to my other passion - teaching through the development and learning of theoretical and practical aspects of teaching anatomy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
