Many workplaces now provide health insurance schemes for their employees and a lot of our therapies are covered by their policies. It's always worth checking with your boss to see if you're covered or looking into one of the health insurance plans for you and your family. There is a lot of competition in this field these days and the plans can be surprisingly affordable and pay for themselves quite quickly if you need a lot of treatment.

BUPA & AXA/PPP capping fees

Why we no longer offer treatment paid for by BUPA & AXA/PPP

There is a growing issue of BUPA & AXA/PPP patients being unable to use osteopaths through their BUPA & AXA/PPP health insurance. Osteopaths are continuing to successfully treat patients privately and on the NHS but have now come up against the problem where BUPA & AXA/PPP is capping fees of £40 for an Intial consultation and £30 for follow up treatment, with no room for negotiation.

This issue of capping is putting BUPA & AXA/PPP patients in a situation where they will be unable to continue to have osteopathic treatment in certain areas as osteopaths can not afford to treat at these prices. BUPA & AXA/PPP itself charges £85 (consultation) and £59 (treatments) for osteopathy in its centre at Canary Wharf!

As a direct result of this and the imposition of certain practices/policies, over 3000 osteopaths removed themselves from the BUPA & AXA/PPP recognised provider register. A sizeable number of chiropractors and physiotherapists have also followed suit.

This issue is reducing the amount of choice available to patients under BUPA & AXA/PPP and needs to be addressed urgently. If you are a BUPA or AXA/PPP member, we strongly urge you to write to them to address this issue.

Sadly because of the amount of work involved with BUPA & AXA/PPP we can no longer afford to offer ourselves as service providers under BUPA & AXA/PPP health insurance policies.
