Our Back2Life Clinic massage therapists exhibit a commitment to providing our patients with the best and most enjoyable treatment they can. As they work closely with our clinical therapists, they get regular feedback from them and are quite happy to 'cross-refer' if they ever feel that this would be beneficial to the patient.
Massage is well known, very effective, relaxing and reviving - actions achieved by easing irritated nerve endings all over the body, whilst at the same time working on both the central nervous system and the autonomic (or involuntary) nervous system.
Massage is also said to aid digestion, by encouraging the production of saliva and the flow of the digestive juices. It assists in our fight against infection, since it boosts the immune system. It stimulates the lymphatic system, which carries the white blood cells: these in turn protect against viruses and degenerative disease.
What can massage therapy help?
The object of massage is to activate the touch receptors in your skin, with the appropriate level of pressure, so that the receptors send pleasurable messages to your brain. Rhythmic stroking of your skin ensures that massage is always a soothing and regenerating experience. Overall, a massage helps you relax and unwind, which makes it an ideal antidote to today’s stressful lifestyles.
Massage is suitable for most people. To ensure your continued well-being all our treatments begin with a consultation - enabling your therapist to make sure that massage is right for you. A confidential case history will be kept with any relevant notes for future treatments.
What are the different types of massage available at Back2Life?
Classic (Swedish) Massage and Back / Shoulder Massage:
A relaxation massage which aims to help the body to rid itself of accumulated toxins, by incorporating deep tissue techniques to help stimulate the body's circulatory and lymphatic systems and lighter techniques to encourage relaxation and soothe the nervous system.
Sports Massage
A remedial massage in which the body's soft tissues are manipulated in order to improve flexibility, enhance sports performance and reduce the risk of injury. This type of massage focuses on an individual's specific requirements and can help to promote recovery after injury. Pre-event sports massage can stimulate circulation, calm nervous tension, improve performance and help prepare the athlete for optimal performance. Such massage also helps an individual to learn to monitor their own condition and adjust their training accordingly.
Therapeutic Massage
A massage treatment designed to complement your other current treatment (eg. Osteopathy, Physiotherapy or Acupuncture) at the clinic. This treatment will be provided in conjunction with and following consultation between your clinical therapist and your massage therapist.
1. Assists in the removal of waste products and helps supply the tissues with essential nutrients to aid recovery.
2. Provides an opportunity to give advice on specific stretching, training and equipment to help improve performance.
3. Increases blood flow so that tissues can help improve the recovery process.
Advanced Massage
A deeper form of massage using a combination of deep tissue, trigger point and neuromuscular techniques to increase mobility, reduce joint stiffness and relieve tension.
