18.07.10 Charity Bike Ride 4th September - whenever we get there!

Land's End to John O'Groat's

For his sins, David has decided to take some valuable time off and go for a little bike ride. Well, when I say little....I mean Land's End to John O'Groats!! He will be completing this with a fellow osteopath from one of our sister clinics in Englandshire (Richard Frost).

We here at Back2Life Clinic deal with people in pain daily, so I was moved to here of the trials of a local girl called Alyssa who doesn't feel any external pain and suffers enormously because of it. So we have decided to raise money for her treatment and to help fund a "soft-room" for her to play safely.

Please visit her webpage www.understandingalyssa.com (click on her picture).

YOU CAN DO SOMETHING WORTHWHILE RIGHT NOW by kindly donating any amount you can. Please help by clicking her picture and then on the "Donate" button.

Now, I know that we are bombarded with charitable causes; but the money raised for this little girl will really make a difference to one person and we shall keep you updated on our progress with photographic evidence of what your donation has helped to do. Please give generously.

Thanks in advance......the Back2Life Clinic team

10.02.10 Fiddler on the Roof
Fiddler on the Roof

Helen and I are delighted to announce that we are supporting our local Falkirk Operatic Society production of "Fiddler on the Roof" in the Falkirk Town Hall on 20-24 April 2010.

If you are lucky enough to grab a ticket for one of these fabulous evenings' entertainment, you may see a familiar face playing the role of "The Innkeeper" - a VITAL role that glues the play together (sic!)

       Back2Life becomes Club Osteopaths to
Falkirk's leading Tae Kwon Do Club

We are delighted to announce that we have become an essential part of the medical team caring for the members of the renowned "Cumbrae Tae Kwon Do Club"  in Tamfourhill, Falkirk.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the club members to improve their general fitness, flxibility and health as well as some athletes who are aiming for Commonwealth glory representing Scotland.

The club was founded by leading instructor Stuart Wright (3rd Dan) to bring martial arts to the people of Falkirk and encourage children and adults alike to participate in this worthwhile sport.

We are trying to do all we can to raise money for Children In Need. We personally raise money for CHAS each year as that is our Clinic's chosen charity but we feel that we can't ignore this worthwhile cause. So ,to raise much needed funds, we are for the 1st time in our history giving away FREE CONSULTATIONS on Friday 20th November (Children in Need day).
These consultations will be with an experienced osteopath who will listen to your medical history, examine you and treat you if appropriate. They will also give advice on posture, exercise and lifestyle advice in order to help prevent/rehabilitate your aches/pains.
These are usually £45 and all we ask in return is that you make a donation, 100% of which will be for the Children In Need appeal.
So if you haven't got time to do some fundraising, why not make a donation AND get healthier at the same time!! This offer is for ALL THE FAMILY as osteopathy helps babies to grannies.
We have VERY LIMITED SPACES available as each consultation is 30 minutes long and we are filling up fast.

12.10.09 Heavy Handbags could mean you're carrying PAIN!
Image 1

Big Bag Police Chief David out on the beat!

Leading local osteopath David was out on streets of Falkirk today weighing handbags, manbags and rucksacks to raise awareness of the health risks of carrying heavy bags.

 ·       Carrying bags can seriously damage our health and postural integrity – leading to problems with our spine, lower back, pelvis and feet

·       A heavy load on one shoulder accentuates your spinal curve and leads the opposite shoulder to compensate in order to redress the balance

·       Women, in particular, can be guilty of carrying bags as heavy as 5lbs (five bags of sugar) – ideally you shouldn’t carry more than 2lbs

One offender was a mum carrying a change bag with all her usual handbag contents weighing in at 5kg!. Worst culprit was the photographer for the Falkirk Herald carrying his 9.8KG rucksack on ONE SHOULDER!!!

27.05.09 Back2Life Clinic welcomes NICE recommendation
NICE

Back2Life Clinic welcomes the NHS watchdog "NICE - National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence" recommendation that Osteopathy is one of the proven treatments for back pain and should be referred to for chronic low back pain.

Furthermore, it also recommends medical acupuncture, massage and excercise advice. We are proud to announce that ALL of these therapies are available under one roof at Back2Life Clinic.
